1846 - heavy trains? - SUNDAY 31st JULY @ RED DEER

Hi all,

I've got 1846 sat on a shelf (a chair actually - shelves are full!) wanting to be played. This is one of those funny months with 5 Sundays, so I was thinking if there's at least a couple of takers we could make use of the 4th or 5th Sunday (early afternoon onwards) to get it played.

Definitely one to do some reading/watching up on in advance. Happy to suggest some links.

Could enquire with the Deer, though other venues are available.

I enquired with the Deer today and they're holding 31st. Any takers?

I'm sure other games could be played as well if others want to make use of the bonus Sunday. I could happily provide some lighter train games for train initiates. Some of the cube rails games have been a hit mid-week recently.

Sure, I'll join in. I hear poker chips are considered essential for 18XX; I can bring a set if you haven't sufficiently blinged your copy. (Although mine isn't nearly as specialized as some sets: https://boardgamegeek.com/image/2159698/1846-race-midwest )

Good stuff. I have a set of poker chips which have the dubious benefit of being unvalued. Whether one finds them helpful depends on one's ability to consistently subconsciously assiciate a number value with a given colour. So, possibly!

Ah, in that case there isn't a big difference. Mine are also unvalued because all of the labeled ones I could find (for a decent price) have ugly designs that scream "Casino!". Roxley's Iron Clays look decent, but also have an increased price for that prettier design.

Maybe I'll bring mine anyway and if we have different colors we can designate one as $411.

Not many people use the forum, but it's advertised on Fb too, so suspect there'll be other games happening.
