Did you ever play Terra Mystica? Is it like Catan?
Yes, I've played it a few times. It has some similarities to Catan in that there is an area control aspect and some resource management. But it's more complex and there is essentially no luck (no dice, no cards) though there is randomness in the setup. Each faction also has different powers so it's asymmetrical to an extent.

I really, really like it and am always keen to play it some more if you're interested...

Is there an event on the 12th? As far as I know, we only have the room at the Red Deer booked on the first Sunday of the month.

That's correct. We have the room booked the first Sunday of every month up till January now. There's nothing on the 12th that I know of.

As others have said, there's no Sunday event on the 12th (unless someone wants to organise one) and I'm away on holiday that week so will miss the 14th too... but I'm sure we can arrange a game at some point!

Well, thanks to a goodie bag, I now own 'Poop: The Game'. The question is: is it better than Plop Trumps?

Apparently it's a misprint and they were using the D12 to stand in for the bunny meeple in prototyping. Though that still doesn't quite explain how you determine the 'result' of a meeple. The rulebook is terrible. Hoping for a revision or FAQ pretty soon. (I bought it for Kat without playing it, purely on the strength of the theme and artwork - to be fair she thinks that the bunny meeple along was worth the price).

The box is also confusing though. The sides seem to show paths of different types. Water, stone, yellow bricks, leaves... yet the game we played only had grass...

Also the 3 egg timers made us laugh... there is a 30, 60 and 120s timer included. But no way to tell them apart. I suggested that the level of sand in the timer must be indicative of the time it lasts for... after picking the timer with the least sand and it lasting 120s - we had second thoughts. And a giggle between the group over logic...

Added in my (small) haul from TCAD 2016:
- Shadows over the Empire (my free game, which looks ok!)
- Android: Mainframe (which is immediately going up to Edinburgh with me)

Shadows over the empire as a free game? That's great!

Yep! Tom S got Queen's Necklace as his free game. There were definitely some decent (and reasonably expensive) games given away for free this year. Someone early got a copy of 504.

Wow - 504 would be a big win - if just to sell. I'm neither boasting nor complaining about Ice Flow. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the weekend

I agree that *someone* should get it but not sure I have room for that huge box at the moment. Someone must have ordered it, though? Scott F?
