Black Forest

I have a problem. I'm intrigued by a new game currently on Kickstarter. Black Forest; a card-drafting, worker-placement game with a hidden role mechanic. I know! Crazy, huh?

However I have pinky-promised not to buy any more games until the end of next month... But one of you fine people will want to back it, won't you? And you'll bring it to the club so I can play it, won't you? Excellent :-)

Well, that combination of mechanics certainly has me intrigued (I'm always particularly a sucker for hidden role / traitor games). I've just backed it and promise to bring it along as soon as it arrives!

Now we just have to hope that it gets funded! Seems to have been a slow start...

Funding has doubled in the last week or so, I think it will get over the line.

The author has just made a print and play of Black Forest available to backers, so I could print that out if you'd like to play it soon? Otherwise can wait for the published game...

I'm happy to wait, unless you're itching to play...

Yeah, I agree. I'll probably take a look at the rules but I'm generally too stingy to expend all the necessary printer ink anyway!!

The designer has just posted an update saying that he's going to suspend the Kickstarter, give some more thought to the logistics (e.g. EU shipping) and get the game into the hands of more reviewers. He's going to launch a new Kickstarter, but sounds like it could be as much as a year away :-(

Whilst it's a shame that there's this delay, I think it's refreshing to see a kickstarter creator recognise it and do it this way (before taking all the money) rather than continue the campaign and then deliver massively behind schedule.

That's disappointing, but you're right, better they admit that now and take a step back then push on regardless.
