Star Trek Catan

I've just watched the Star Trek Catan episode of Tabletop and I'm not sure what to make of it. I want it to be awesome, but I can't help worrying it's just a clumsily cobbled together mash up.
Any thoughts? Or better still has anyone played it? Or best of all, does any one own it and want to bring it down one Tuesday evening?

It gets great reviews in most places I have seen... But yes I agree... It does seem a rather odd mash up on the surface...

It's just the same game but with those extra cards. You could just print them out and play it with standard Catan. Shall we try it?

I'm up for it - I'll bring my Catan down next week.

Theres something about the appearance of the game that bothers me - everything up on little plastic stands like that looks (to me at least) a) cluttered and b) easy to knock stuff over...

The role cards do look an interesting addition tho!
