MidCon 2015
Is anyone going to MidCon in Derby this year (13 - 15th November)?

RikTheChief went last year and gave a positive review, I'm considering applying for a weekend pass from the wife...

Oooh, tempting! I'll probably be quite busy around then, but might try to see if I can do a day trip. I'll likely decide a bit nearer the time.
Re: MidCon 2015
Do they have a games library? The bit I read suggested that you bring your own and ask to use other peoples games if they arent playing them? The price tag seems a little high for that... or am I just being Yorkshire!

Ah, good point! If that's the case then we might as well just organise to play some games in Sheffield (oh, wait, we already do that!)Aneurin wrote:Do they have a games library? Yeah, I'm not sure what the point would be without a library. Or a bring and buy?

This is on their site in answer to the question... what happens at the game convention?
"This varies from one convention to another, but there are normally some organized events and plenty of opportunities to play games of all sorts. You will find that the other people are very friendly, so you shouldn't have to wait very long for someone to announce that they are looking for players for a game: they will normally be happy to explain the rules to you. Of course, if you bring a game that you want to play, you could ask for other players. You will also find that people will lend you games that they aren't using (as long as you ask nicely!). There may be a tournament and other organized events such as a quiz or a trip out to a nearby restaurant, providing excellent opportunities to meet other games players."
No mention of a library!

Yes, it is a good point.
Rik - can you enlighten us? Is it just a bunch of people taking their own games, or is there a library?

It seems, from the below (written some time after 2011) that they have a Bring and Buy and new games are on sale, but the library is informal - people bring games, other people borrow them.

Re: MidCon 2015
There was no library of games last year. People brought and played their own.
The bring and buy was quite big but very popular so if you're looking for a bargain you might have to elbow your way to the front of the queue. I was quite tempted by a mint copy of Get Bit Deluxe (the one in the tin) but when I went back later it had gone. Managed to get rid of '3 Commandments' and got a tenner for it, so result.
There was a stall set up by Spirit Games selling new games at a slight discount (10% I think it was). They were quite well stocked and had all the latest hotness.
