Tuesday 11th October
Early I know...
Anyone fancy a game of Forbidden Stars on the 11th? Its a fairly meaty space area control and expansion game (not dissimilar to Game of Thrones, if anyone has played that). The game plays four people, and we have one slot remaining.

It would be beneficial if you have read the rules ahead of the game as it can run quite long even without a rules description, but the game is mechanically quite simple...mostly

I'd like to join in please Dave. Haven't played this but have played Game of Thrones quite a number of times. Will read the rules ahead of time

And thanks for teaching Village by the way. Nice game. Enjoyed it. Interesting decisions. Not sold on the theme or the board, which I was looking at upside down and wasn't very clear!

Re: Tuesday 11th October
No problem. I really like Village, and I thought the Port expansion was great, replacing the weakest aspect of the main game with something more fun and involving without adding loads of complexity or extra playtime. I can sort of understand your criticism of the board but I do think that making it any 'clearer' would stop it looking as aesthetically pleasing, and all the info is there on it already. We should have had it the right way up for the new players though. I think the theme is totally integral to the game, with people dying and new generations taking their place. Thought it flowed really well once we were actually playing as well. Just a fair bit to go through at the start if people haven't played it before. You deserved the win as well, totally caught everyone off guard ending the game when you did, with a completely different strategy to the ones the rest of us were pursuing. Good stuff.

Yeah I enjoyed Village too, thanks from me as well. I like games that give you limited options and force you to think about what the best thing to do is, it's an enjoyable challenge and it's especially pleasing when it all works out right.
Count me in for Tiny Epic Western too, not played it before but it looks good!

I've got a copy and not played it. Would be keen to try it if there's still a slot?

Think that makes four? Do you want to bring your copy and start with the setup if I'm not quite there for seven? I struggle to get there bang on time depending on work/traffic.

I'll certainly bring it but I'll be coming straight from work so probably be a little late myself
