Tuesday 29th November 2016
I'll be back and keen to try Crisis again with more players. Who wants to save Axia from austerity? Plays quite quickly and we should be able to get something played afterwards.

I'm not going to be there, I'll be having #FunInTheSun!
Actually, I might not be able to make it until the new year... which seems a very long time...

Re: Tuesday 29th November 2016
My ranger fun night out has been rearranged so I can come next week after all.
If you want a fifth for Crisis I'd be happy to join, but if it'd be better with four I'll play something else.

I've picked up a few cheap games in the Patriot sale so Kes and I are gonna try one out, might squeeze both in. There's Homesteaders, an auction/economic game with a Western theme (and spotty cow meeples) and Shitenno, a lighter card game about Samurai.
They're both best with four so space for two more

Don't forget it's your last chance to tell us if you want in for the Christmas Party next week! Both Karl and myself should be there to collect money. I will also announce on the night... as I know some people don't use this forum.
Re: Tuesday 29th November 2016
Sorry, I won't be able to make it tomorrow after all. I'm needed for bunny bonding support. Hopefully you can find a replacement easily.Lizzy wrote:Excellent! That's us full then

Re: Tuesday 29th November 2016
Oh I see - make me sign you as a 5th player and then shun us for better people. I understand. Traitor.
Re: Tuesday 29th November 2016
Oh, I hadn't noticed and interpreted your silence as meaning you'd be happier with four! Sorry! Actually I did check BGG and that suggested you'd be better with four.

We're happy to have you Meurig! But I won't be offended if you'd rather play with worse people :-P

Nah, I'll play with you guys, Liz. I know how John gets twitchy with five in a game!

I just think that most games that try to cram in a 5th player do so to the detriment of the experience. They either end up dragging the game out too long or making the game overly cut-throat.
Plus, having an extra player just means there's 1 more person to say, "Screw it, I clearly can't win and the board is too tight to claw myself back into the game. I'm not enamoured with how long this is taking so let's wind John up. That'll give me some pleasure at least"

Yeah, I broadly agree with you, depending on the game. I never try to screw up other people, really though. If I can't win I still just try to do as well as possible.

Re: Tuesday 29th November 2016
Now there's a challenge... games which play up to 5 which are better with 5 players than 4.
The only one that immediately springs to mind is Cosmic Encounter (just because it makes the negotiations and alliances more interesting).
