Roll With It 2018
Hi Everyone,
I hope you’ve all had a great Christmas and start to the New Year.
Sunday 18th February is the next Roll With It event, so hopefully you can all make it.
Same venue as last year, Hilton Sheffield on Furnival Road.
I’m wanting to confirm whether or not you’re still able to volunteer and demo games on the day? And if so what games are you able to demo (just so we don’t get duplications)
As well as the main event, this year I’m running an X-Wing tournament, so if you’d like to enter that (I’m expecting it to take most of the day) don’t put your name down to volunteer and buy your ticket to enter the tournament from the Patriot Games Website (prizes include x1 Biggs Darklighter, x8 Omega Ace x1 playmat from Patriot Games and x1 template tray from Cog O Two.)
Places to the tournament are limited.
Hopefully this still leaves some of you left to volunteer
The games I have been donated so far include:
x2 Dark Souls (already being demonstrated)
x2 Kick Off (already being demonstrated)
x2 Shadow Games
x1 Backpacks and Blisters
x1 Hive
x1 Tatsu
x2 Cards Against Humanity + expansion
x1 Ice Cool
x1 Voila
x1 Reef Route
x1 Woo-Hoo!
x1 King Frog
x1 Game of Trains
x1 Thirst Impressions
x1 Bun Fight
x1 Rock Paper Scissors Bang!
It would be great if some of these could be demonstrated on the day, so please let me know if you have any copies, you’d be willing to demo.
I would also like to ask for your help in sharing the event! Please share it with everyone you know on Facebook and send them an invite too. And please could you share any posts too.
Last year 100 people attended and we raised £1022.
It would be fantastic if we could beat it this year.
FinallY, thank you once again for all your help and support! None of this would be possible without your help. It really does mean so much.
Any questions please ask

Rob

Re: Roll With It 2018
I'm afraid I can't do the 18th any more - I'm going out of town for the week on the preceding Friday
If any of my games are useful am happy to pass to another club member to use on the day.

Re: Roll With It 2018
Also, I’m looking into the possibility of running some games at a school(s) one day, to help promote the event.
Is this something anyone may be interested in?

Hi Rob,
I think I'll still be available to help out - happy to demo anything, though of the games listed I only own Ice Cool.

I'll be around I think, will gladly help demonstrate. I haven't got any of the games on your list (except CAH), but could demo something else.

I'm not sure demo'ing CAH at a family event is a good idea

A lot of the games listed are very light, so learning and demoing them should be fairly straightforward.

Re: Roll With It 2018
Thank you guys,
You’re welcome to bring and demo any games you like, I just thought it may generate more money in the competitions and raffles if people play a game and then see they have a chance of winning it.
I want to keep it like we have done in previous years, as that has worked really well.
I just want to avoid multiple demos of the same game so I would be good to get a list of who is bringing which games

Re: Roll With It 2018
Happy to help out if there's interest in hidden role games. Would also be happy to run a school session of Resistance / Avalon / Secret Hitler etc.
Re: Roll With It 2018
I'm afraid I'll be a no show now - we have just booked to go away that weekend at the start of half term. Hope it goes well. I'll donate the money anyway. If anyone wants to borrow any of my games to
Demo let me know - PitchCar - junkart - Flick'em up have all worked well in the past.

Doh and I tried to avoid your bday weekend too

Seriously that’s cool mate, it would be great if we could borrow Pitch Car as that competition usually goes down brilliantly.
I’d also ask if everyone could invite everyone they know on the Facebook event and share it as well. Need to get as much publicity as possible

Of course. I'll pass it onto Karl or Paul at some point - if not yourself. Will share on the media front. Keep up the good work.

I've got the PitchCar base game, so can take that. Expansions would be good though...

I have the first two expansions, can bring them if you like (could bring the base game too if it's easier for one person to bring it all).PaulC wrote:I've got the PitchCar base game, so can take that. That might be easier if it's ok with you Sam. It removes any concern about which "bit" belongs to which owner.Samuel_C wrote:I have the first two expansions, can bring them if you like (could bring the base game too if it's easier for one person to bring it all).PaulC wrote:I've got the PitchCar base game, so can take that. That’s awesome Sam,
Would you feel comfortable running a pitch car tournament?
(Collecting names of people who want to enter and then running as many heats as necessary to get enough players for a final? Maybe top 2 go through)

Yes I was thinking exactly the same thing, and that's fine by me.PaulC wrote:That might be easier if it's ok with you Sam. Yes I'd be happy to give it a go, though I wouldn't mind having someone to help me (it's not something I've done before...), and an extra pair of hands might be useful anyway.RD52169 wrote:That’s awesome Sam,

Re: Roll With It 2018
Hi everyone,
So the people volunteering so far are:
Paul C
Scott Fryer
Samuel C
Jamie
Beardy Tom
Bill Atherton- demoing Guild Ball
Mark - demoing Dark Souls
And Ross Graham on behalf of Esdevium
Could ideally do with a few more
Could ideally do with a few more...
Will anyone be at the club tomorrow? Maybe drum up some support?
I sadly can’t get down tomorrow due to car trouble
Thank you

If you want another competition, how about an 8 minute empires challenge, with the prize going to the winner of the quickest game?

Re: Roll With It 2018
Can I just check who is able to make the event?
With a week to go and volunteers are dropping.. I just need confirmation of who will definitely be there? As I’m unsure whether I need to pull the event.
Also can you tell me what games you’re planning on bringing, so we don’t double up?
Many thanks
Rob
