Dave - yes, we can run a "friendly" session, good idea.
Let's do that 5th Feb and I can add in more dates for the conferences if needed. When are you available?

Hmm, I can't see who has voted for what in the polls. I'll re-do it in a new thread on my break this afternoon, so everyone will have to re-vote. Sorry.
I'VE DELETED THE POLL, SEE LATEST POST FOR DOODLE POLLS

5th I am free. Can't see a poll. But perhaps it is not back up.
Certainly need a friendly as I know nothing about the game or baseball

Pre-season on Tuesday 5th Feb, then the season starts proper.
Use this Doodle poll to let me know your availability and I'll work it out from there.

I started setting up an overly complicated, but fun and completely necessary, Excel Sheet to keep track of this but it relies on a lot of manual input from me. Any excel ninjas know how to use lookups to create automatic tables and complete the playoff leagues/brackets? See attached.

Mike, your votes aren't showing up. Later on the 5th is fine, we'll keep rolling all night so that people can practice.

Re: Baseball Highlights: 2045 - World Series?!
To suit availability, I've swapped Tom and Ian, meaning the schedule is:
29th Jan - available for pre-season friendlies
5th Feb - available for pre-season friendlies
12th Feb - available for pre-season friendlies
19th Feb - Southern Conference (Karl, Pauly G, Kes, Ian)
5th March - Northern Conference (Tom, Mike, Dave, Liz).
Upon completion of the conferences I'll check availability for the playoffs.
Let's play ball!

Re: Baseball Highlights: 2045 - World Series?!
The Southern Conference was played on Tuesday, results below:
Karl 5 vs Pauly G 0
Kes 5 vs Ian 0
Karl 2 vs Kes 3
Pauly G 3 vs Ian 2
Karl 4 vs Ian 1
Kes 5 vs Pauly G 0
Paul finishes above Ian on head-to-head records.
Kes and I progress to the Winner's Conference, Paul and Ian to the Runner's Up Conference.
We made a couple of decisions about the competition format, which hopefully everyone agrees on. We'll abandon the league/playoff format as it'll take weeks to sort and just have a straight 5 game series for the top and bottom 4 teams to determine overall rank.
Once the Northern Conference is complete I'll post pictures of each team's current roster, updated with free agent purchases.
The Northern Conference will play on 5th March.
Karl 5 vs Pauly G 0
Kes 5 vs Ian 0
Karl 2 vs Kes 3
Pauly G 3 vs Ian 2

Don't worry, based on the warm-up games I'm preety sure I'll make you look good
Re: Baseball Highlights: 2045 - World Series?!
I feel like there was a definite divide in experience between the top half and bottom half of the conference!Ianm wrote:I thought I played pretty well but seeing it on paper apparently not so lol
Very fun evening though!
Re: Baseball Highlights: 2045 - World Series?!
Definitely a game that favours experience, unfortunately for everyone that hasn't played this game every Tuesday for the last month!
I think keeping it shorter this time and then thinking about another format for a future competition is a good idea. Paul was explaining the merits of the Swiss system, which would be fun.

I think we're missing a photo of Tom's team? I'm curious to see what he ended up with. Think it was the best deck.
