General recommendations/requests thread
I thought that rather than start a thread every time I/we want to ask for a recommendation we could just post them in here.
I'm looking for a Christmas gift for my friend's kids, 2 boys aged 7 and 10. They like playing 'conventional' board games and I thought I'd try them on something different. I bought the older one 'Hey! That's My Fish' for his birthday, which went down well but now I'm looking for other suggestions. Ta.

Also Escape: The Curse of the Temple might be good.

King of Tokyo is great fun - monsters trashing each other and big chunky dice.
Simple but effective.

Not that unconventional but if they havent got it:

there are ideas on geek for how to handicap it for younger players too.
Forbidden Island is good, be aware it's a co-op.
Escape From Atlantis - I really like this game but kids can feel a bit picked on - as can I ;-)

Not in Noah's head - whoever escapes with the most treasure (generally him as he is 5 - or at least that's what I tell my self to avoid embarrassment) wins!Cal wrote:

The magic labyrinth! Sometimes I wish i had kids so I wouldn't need an excuse to buy games like these.
