Board Game Trivia
Pop Quiz:
Prizes to anyone who can answer without using their meta-brain(google etc).
When and where have laws been passed restricting the playing of board games?
P.s I'm asking partly out of interest as I'm sure there are more examples, though I do already have one or two examples in mind.

I would be seriously impressed if anyone knew this without the aid of Google, Siri or Cortana...

I know the Taliban banned Chess in Afghanistan.
I also wouldn't be surprised if it (or other similar games) had previously been banned in European monarchies at sometime during the last 600 years (in much the same way ball games were) to prevent the military from being distracted from their duties.

Actually, I seem to remember the Taliban banning chess as well - hidden somewhere in my memory - well recalled sir!
I wonder about Cromwell, he banned most things, including football and the majority of pubs I believe (a real populist). Will have to use my meta-brain to find out though.

Re: Board Game Trivia
Did Dan Quayle push for a ban of Scrabble because he couldn't spell?
Or maybe Gee-dubya banned Risk because Condy and Coh-lin always beat him!

Aha, research tells that all games were banned on Sundays. Bad bananas.
