Sheffield Film and Comic Con
Due to my friend dropping out I've got a spare ticket for the Sheffield Film and Comic con taking place at the arena this Saturday (17th August)
Does anyone want to come with me? I don't want anything for the ticket, the price is that you have to spend the day wandering around with me.
This is not first come first served, if you fancy it let me know below and I'll pick someone. Don't be offended if I don't pick you, I probably just don't know you that well or perhaps I just don't like you. You'll never know!!
Just as a side note, my wife hasn't had the baby yet so there is a chance that the free ticket will become 2 free tickets if she goes into labour between now and Saturday.
For more details on the event check out their website

Thanks Tom, just seen it. I'll consider selling them if it's starting to look like I can't go.

Unfortunately I'll be spending Saturday furiously cleaning in preparation for the return of the family on Sunday morning.
Not that you'd pick me of course... :-p

Have you been before, Ste (or anyone else)? Any good? What do you get up to there? I've been reading a lot of comics and watching a lot of films recently but never been to a con.

No I've never been before so not quite sure what to expect. The website gives you a good idea of what will be there though, you can meet actors and comic artists/writers and have photo opportunities. I'm guessing you have to pay and queue for all that. Cosplay seems to be a big part too. I'm planning on dressing as a bearded sexy bastard...

A couple of my friends went last year and said it was a fun day out, particularly Dirk Benedict's paranoid right wing ramblings in his Q&A.

Re: Sheffield Film and Comic Con
I went to WoSCon and that was great fun. I presume this would be a similar affair - just looking at the costumes is great fun. I would go but we have friends here this weekend and are off down a cave (must avoid sunlight at all costs!).
It will be interesting to see if there is a board game section at this one... there was at WosCon... if they run it next year I might ask if we can have a stall (any excuse to play games)

Stick to Sci-Fi games (either stuff like Firefly/BSG or original stuff themes like Dark Moon (yes I know, it *was* a BSG game - it's not any more) and you might get somewhere, I'd certainly be up for it...
Re: Sheffield Film and Comic Con
Oo, yeah, sounds fun. I'd be happy to help too if I can.

Im off this year, and not long ago went to the London event run by the same people, in both previous years at London, there has been numerous sellers of board games, and in addition to that, a London board games club, running demonstrations and open play sessions for the public. So its probably something they might be up for at the Sheffield one.. ( I cant say I saw one last year, but maybe no volunteers ? ).

Re: Sheffield Film and Comic Con
I'm not sure if this would be me sort of thing but it would be silly of me not to try it seeing as comics and films are my two main sources of entertainment currently. And I live in Sheffield. I tick all the boxes! I would have bought a ticket for myself but they've gone, so if you fancy arguing about which is the best/worst Marvel film or playing spot the Power Girl cosplay, I'm up for it, Ste.
They have a retro gaming zone, also. Cool!

Is a mega drive considered retro now? , think I have a 2600 tucked away somewhere, and a dragon 64 amongst other old bits of kit..
