Paul, could I get a Steampunk rally spot please. It looks great plus it doesn't look like there's any interest for a game of Armada.

I'm still licking my wounds. Have you seen the Esdevium news page about Armada?

Are you talking about the Massing at Sullust wave 2 event? Wargames Emporium are doing one that I'm planning to attend. Happy to lend you my Rebel fleet if you want to enter with me, we'd have to get together and sort out the upgrade cards between us though as they don't allow proxies. Entry fee is quite steep though, £15 I think but the top 5 players get to choose 1 of the wave 2 ships as a prize. I hope to do a lot better than the last time...

Eclipse is basically Small World in space...

It haz happened!
Actually, it's in my small collection of games. It's at home though, so can't bring it tonight, sorry Sam. Quite like it, just a shame there are no custom built space ships in it!

Re: Tuesday September the 15th
What a con! Lost at everything tonight ... Eclipse and Avalon. Was surrounded by team evil, who totally had me, well done team evil, well played...
Re: Tuesday September the 15th
So Aneurin's last team only just went ahead, right? Who voted for it? I want to know which good guy or two trusted me on the team chosen by Aneurin more than Merlin Joe picking the team XD Joe put two spies on his "hammer" team, right? That's pretty mad. And Aneurin didn't get nearly enough flac for playing in the most suspicious way almost every turn, including being on a team with two spies! How on earth did his team get approved?!
Yeah, I was pretty rubbish last night, but lots of people are rubbish when they aren't a generic goodie and I can't always tell which other role they might be. Do my eyes turn red when I'm a spy?
Poor Jamie, he was in Russia all along.

Re: Tuesday September the 15th
Yeah, it was interesting being the only good guy surrounded by spies (3 to my left, 1 to my right)! Plus, the layout (long, not round) of the table didn't help matters, it only served to isolate me more. Interesting how I tended to trust people who were next to me, more than those at the other side of the table. Possibly, proximity engenders trust?
I was totally taken in by Gareth. I played badly to be honest; jumped to early conclusions, trusted people on the basis of flakey assumptions, as a generic good guy though, it was pretty hard to pick apart what was going on last night; I thought evil played well as a team, and didn't make any serious goofs.
Can't wait to play again now!...

Re: Tuesday September the 15th
I was purely playing as a vanilla Minion to out Merlin. And it worked, from round one I was convinced that Joe was Merlin. Especially as he kept whispering with me and then either never putting me on or voting against teams I had chosen.
I don't think Joe talking and supporting me (probably playing to convince me he wasn't Merlin) helped... at least not in Andy, Matt and Dave's mind... and I convinced them that ultimately it didn't matter if 1 spy was on that 4th mission as 'they' needed 2 spies to fail... With Joe and obvious good guy supporting me why wouldn't they vote to let the mission pass?
It was only Annie that I heard speak logic... Gareth chose the 1st team (as a bad guy why would you put 2 spies on that mission and risk it passing) - therefore when the second mission with the same 3 and myself failed it was obvious I was a spy. But no-one listened - I'm hoping because of my banter with Joe helping to sway them.

Re: Tuesday September the 15th
Also, we should try and play on a more round table next time. Even a square table would be more 'round' that the banquet style table we had last night (where you can't really communicate well with people at the other side).
I didn't hear Annie make her point about mission 1 and mission 2, with Gareth being likely evil and so Aneurin evil too. I was convinced Gareth was good, and so 'knew' Joe and Aneurin were evil. It's a killer, being certain you know something when you really don't, one of the Avalon deadly sins! Also, trusting people just because they're sat near you and sound convincing, that's another Avalon deadly sin!
This game always leaves me hungry for more...

There's a nice, big round table over the other side... ideal for some knights I would think :-)Jamie wrote:Also, we should try and play on a more round table next time.
