Roll With It - Board Game Day
I know there has been another thread about this, but that got a little convoluted with volunteer info.
I really wanna make everyone else aware.
So on Sunday 8th November, I'm running a board game day at the Old Rectory in Handsworth
Some of you will be there running games for everyone to take part in.
On the day we will have competitions to enter, in the forms of Pitch Car, Formula D, Splendor, and, as its Remembrance Sunday, Wings of War
There will be raffles where we will be giving away board games!
There is even a bit of space for you to bring your own games to play, although the volunteers from the club are providing a wide range of games.
Esdevium Games will also be there running demos too.
You can get tickets from the patriot games website, www.patriotgames.ltd.uk
£5 for adults, £4 kids, and £16 family ticket.
And each ticket bought in advance will be entered into another draw to win the "Pints of Blood" board game
In my opinion, the best thing about this event is that every penny raised will be donated to the charity WellChild, who do an amazing job helping seriously ill children across the UK.
Please do contact me if you want to know more, or check out our Facebook page www.facebook.com/boardgameday
I really hope to see you all there

I'm thinking of how the Splendor competition could work and would welcome some input.
One way would be to have people sign up for a knockout tournament to be held in the afternoon. If we have a few copies of Splendor, early rounds could be played simultaneously and it could be finished in a couple of hours.
The exact format would depend on the number of people signing up but I'm thinking 3- or 4-player games in each round with the winners going straight through to the next round while the runners-up play each other to see who joins them. There would be an unpredictable number of runners-up in each game so I'd have to work out how that works on the spot. It would be easier to have just the winners going through but the second chance would mitigate bad luck a bit.
Another way to do it would be to have a league table. The results of each game would be recorded and players would receive (say) 3 points for a win and 1 for 2nd place. Only their best 4 results from their first 5 games would count. I'm not going to dictate to people who plays who in each game so some people will have easier wins than others.
The top scoring players at the end could then play a final game (or semi-final then final) to determine the overall winner.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi tom,
Iv spoke to Salliee at patriot who suggested:
"Best way is to do a best of 3 games. Do an over all score of points but do runner up for like nobles collected or most of one colour collected."
I hope that means more to you than it does me lol
I don't know what you think?
Like I say, iv not played the game, just trying to be helpful...

Yes, I think a knockout tournament with 3 or 4 players per round played in a best of 3 format with the highest aggregate score going through would work well. # of nobles won could be used as a tie breaker.

Aneurin is running a Pitch Car one
I'm running a formula D one
And my dad will be running Wings of War (thought this one would be fitting as its Remembrance Sunday)
