Introducing the Titan, a plastic chair!!!
This is pretty funny, right?
I don't want that shopping bag, or a preview of the new till, and I sure as hell don't want that T-Shirt near me or within my eyesight. But I do want more gaming spaces and it is cool that these guys are expanding and have a solid, functional vision. They have my non-monetary support.

It's great that they're moving to shiny new, city centre premises.
I'm sure they'll have thought this through but it doesn't seem like they're altering their model much. It'd be great to see them become Sheffield's first board game cafe. Basically, what we have at the Uni Arms but with the added draw of games for sale.
I'm interested to see the new store, not least because it's so close to my office. I'll be broke in a month.

It does say that they're accepting feedback on what people would like to see... so we could always send them some thoughts. I guess a board game cafe is quite different to their current model - perhaps they are worried that it would put off some of their younger customers? Anyway, there's not too much I was excited about (so far - they are creating some new pledge levels) but I've kicked in for a tote bag at least. I'll see you all on Nov 29th for a demonstration of the new till system!karl_b wrote:It's great that they're moving to shiny new, city centre premises.

Karl - you've figured out where it's going to be then? I've not been able to work that out so far.

I was looking for that, just basic refreshments would be good, coffees, teas, soft drinks, snacks etc. Seems as though it's not been mentioned, perhaps even could be a space we move to, with TVs we can put rules videos on for some of the more complex games.

Re: Patriot games refurb kickstarter
Yeah I was confused at first why they weren't going for more of a cafe, but that's actually a very different model from what they do now. You can't really have a couple having a quiet cup of coffee and a game of Jaipur with 50 guys having a magic tournament. Wouldn't mesh. They'd also have to invest in sofas and a library, which is a whole different thing.
Anyway, it could work for us in the future, worth checking out the new space. Even if they don't do food (and I'd be amazed if they didn't at least get a vending machine in) if we can take our own snacks/drinks it could still work.

I agree Lizzie. I would prefer their current model and providing food and drinks rather than the other way round.
There was talk of a board game cafe in Sheffield, or certainly frequent it

I've heard a few vague mumblings about one, but nothing concrete.
There was that guy who came in with a survey, but not heard anything since.

I heard it's going to be Union Street. I'd guess it's what used to be the Property Shop, opposite Howden House, but I'm not 100% sure.

Couldn't you just make your various things private .
How much is a coffee machine anyway? Anyone here looking for a job here? Could offer their services to run the coffee shop aspect of the shop...

I make certain things private, but some things, like kickstarter can't be made private!

Re: Patriot games refurb kickstarter
Beardy Tom is right, they're moving to union street
Apparently offers more space on 1 level
I think it's great as the current location isn't in the best area of town.
Jim always seems to appreciate any feedback so it can't hurt to mention your ideas to him.
A move is expensive (which is why I'm guessing the kickstarter thing has started) and new ideas also usually cost money to implement
So whether or not they are viable options is for Jim to figure out

Re: Patriot games refurb kickstarter
They make a fair point regarding turning it into a café - you need a proper kitchen which they just don't have space for...
