The Seventh Seal / Dicing With Death!
Ok, following the top 10s thread, and having watched bill and ted recently, a discussion happened during lunch today, around which game you would challenge Death to, in order to return to life! Obviously it would have to be 2 player, competitive, and something you think you'd be able to win
After much indecision I'm leaning towards either Talisman or Space Hulk, which I think would give me my best shot of winning..
Anybody else ?

Not sure I'm actually that good at any games. Definitely not Star Realms on current form! Perhaps my best chance would be something entirely luck based.Scott wrote:Ok, following the top 10s thread, and having watched bill and ted recently, a discussion happened during lunch today, around which game you would challenge Death to, in order to return to life! "Hey, Death, fancy a game of Hopp Hopp Haschen?"

I'd challenge him to a game of Legs Eleven, provided I could go first.
I've just taught my kids how to never lose - they're going to be SOOOO popular at school!

If I HAD to challenge him to a board game, I would challenge him to a game of Panamax or Viticulture. I'd probably lose, but at least I know I'd have fun.

I've been on an oddly good run of Black Fleet recently so probably that (think I've lost one game in the past six or so)

I don't know why, but I have a feeling Death would be good at heavy Eurogames. I think I'd go the same way as you, though, and choose a good thinky fun game, with little hope of winning. Possibly Samurai for me.
Either that or Pie Face.

Playing Pieface With Death is a great name for a band... And a great idea in general. Did you actually get to play it at the xmas do?
Perhaps my best strategy would be just to play something that would take ages. Do you think Death would go for play-by-mail Diplomacy?

Unfortunately we didn't get to christen Pieface on Tuesday. I'm sure the kids will demand a game with Grandad on Christmas Day.

I have a very old, wearing copy of the 2nd Edition, would love a game sometime.. I've also invested in a copy of the newest 4th or 5th edition, in order that I can play more often without killing mine!

I think I've only played the 2nd, 3rd and 4th editions of Talisman. It's been a while though; but seem to remember the 2nd edition was way better than the others. My friend John, who comes to the club occasionally may still have his copy (with all the 2nd edition expansions). I've never owned the game personally, but yeah, definitely be up for a game (esp. 2nd edition).
Will need to make sure everyone is on the same page re: house rules (max 3 spells can be cast per turn etc) though.
Re: The Seventh Seal / Dicing With Death!
That looks... detailed! I have a feeling that after playing a 1,200 hour game about logistics then Death would win either way.psychomansam wrote:PaulG wrote:Playing Pieface With Death is a great name for a band... And a great idea in general. Did you actually get to play it at the xmas do?

(Also: wow, there's a rule that the Italians need additional provisions because of the water needed to boil their pasta!)
Re: The Seventh Seal / Dicing With Death!
I think Terra Mystica is the only game I've won more than I've lost, so I'd go with that I think. If you're talking about stretching it out as long as possible then probably Case Blue is the way to go. So long BGG just gave up and went with 'minutes' for play time.
