Well at least there's the session at the Red Deer on Saturday to get my games fix.

Apologies all! Think last night was my blunder. I presumed that the University Arms would be open with the rest of the campus on the 3rd. I should have checked before posting a meeting. So you can all blame me...

However, some positives came out of the screw up - we found a new delightful pub to play in - the Three Tuns. Had a great time with 9 others in there. Really quiet - great beer and importantly - pork scratching's. Really enjoyed Mysterium (thanks for showing us Jen) and playing some great games of Secret Hitler. Thanks all (for letting me win both games even following my monumental mistake and outing Hitler).

It is a good pub (with good beer usually), but I'm not sure if it will always be that quiet as the first Tuesday after Xmas seemed dead at most places. They're massively boardgame friendly though and they usually run their own boardgame evening every other Sunday too that I attend sporadically. It's not too big of an event at the moment either. If they had boards it would be a great semi-regular meet-up place for extra-curricular gaming (and i'm not at all just saying that because I live 30 seconds away).

Last night was fun. I'm a little disappointed I didn't get to try out my amazing, brand-new, Stefan Feld deck builder though.

I'll play that with you sometime, John.

I just hope none of the newcomers got left in the cold because we cocked up. This doesn't usually happen! ... maybe it happened once at the Red House, about two years ago, but I'm pretty sure that was their fault.

Our backup meeting worked pretty nicely, though. Mysterium was a real laugh. Then two horrible games of Secret Hitler, one that Aneurin won as a fascist even though he messed up when he told us who Hitler was three or four turns early, and one where I was on the facist team and Aneurin clocked all three of us almost immediately. Don't play Secret Hitler with Aneurin, basically.

I just stayed in and watched football in the end so wasn't terrible....the Hitler game sounds great though!

Great venue and company, and 2 awesome games of SH! Must check out Sunday board games at the three tuns sometime...

Lest anyone be worried that the only activity in the pub last night was group bullshitting, I can reassure you that a proper board game was played at the other end of the pub (Notre Dame) followed by a game of Race.
