I wouldn't mind a game of Princes of Florence, haven't played it for a while. I'd also be interested in Shadows.

I want to play all of those - will also bring a couple of unplayed of my own. Probably Quantum and Hoyuk.

Re: Tuesday 19th May
A 4th week of absence for me :-(
But I'll be back the following week for some Imperial Assault :-)

Re: Tuesday 19th May
Someone expressed an interest in playing some of the Resistance KS expansion variants last night; so if there's enough interest in that, I'd be happy to play hidden role games all evening (and see if my head explodes).
Re: Tuesday 19th May
I mentioned to a couple of people last night that I now own Imperial Assault.
Does anyone fancy starting a campaign on a semi regular basis starting this Tuesday and then say 1 Tuesday a month or every 6 weeks maybe?
I'll be playing this with another group of friends as the Imperials also so I'd quite like to play as a Rebel in this campaign, if someone fancies themselves as an evil bastard Imperials then feel free to offer up your services.
Edit

Rebel Player 2 - ?

Re: Tuesday 19th May
You painted your set yet? I've just put in the pre-order for the first expansion! Crazy expensive compared to the base game.
Re: Tuesday 19th May
Not painted anything yet. I actually only got it yesterday. I do intend on painting them though. I've never painted any miniatures before so looking forward to it.
Any tips on paints, brushes etc welcome. I've been watching a pretty good tutorial on youtube too. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCu5Pmz1wY-NWCYy21vikKAg
Thanks Scott, I'll update the original post.

Re: Tuesday 19th May
Undercoat in black, paint a base layer of colour, layer it up with a couple of brighter tones... then wash the model in a suitable ink - black for dark/white/red and blue areas, brown for brown/red areas. Then reapply the layered tones... and finally add a bright highlight at the 'edges'

Interesting, wouldn't it be easier to base coat in white to negate the need for layering up with the brighter colours? The guy in those videos makes use of lots of washes, I like the shadow type effects the washes give, very cool.
What brand of paints do you use?

Re: Tuesday 19th May
I still use GW paints - mainly because they have the colours and washes I've been use to over the years.
The good thing about undercoating in black is that hard to reach corners then just blend into shadow... yes colours are brighter with a white undercoat but I think too bright... I'm bringing my set a week on tuesday you can check them out...

Re: Tuesday 19th May
Cool, I'll have a look. If you get chance though, check out that YouTube channel. It's really impressive. The Scout Walker especially.
Edit - I forgot to ask, do you base coat with a spray or do you just paint it on?

Re: Tuesday 19th May
Ive been painting these black as I'm leaving the bases plain grey. Basing is hard because of the multiple terrain possibilities... grass bases would would silly in an imperial corridor...
I might spray the AT-STs... just for pure convenience.

Have you thought about transparent bases...

Are we getting our wires crossed here? I'm not talking about the actual bases of the figures. I'm talking about the base coat for the entire figure before you start building up layers. Do you use a spray paint for this, or do you use regular paint applied with a brush? Sorry, I probably didn't explain myself very well.

No I meant I'm painting the models (feet up) with a black undercoat so I can leave the base au 'natural.

PaulG is still waiting for his Sentinels of the Universe to be painted... Good things come to those who wait...

I'll be coming straight from work so won't have any games with me. I'll see what's going on the night.

Re: Tuesday 19th May
Thought this was a good guide (storm trooper being painted): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZUsfAtyEM0
I'll be painting the Eclipse miniatures at some point. I'm thinking...
Spray on black base layer; then paint on darkest shade of the base colour, then black wash, then high-lights?
Is that correct?
Ooh, on the video he starts with white primer...

That's the same guide I posted earlier :-D he's a really good painter. Going to try and paint my models like his.

Re: Tuesday 19th May
This video highlights one of the things I don't understand about Imperial Assault - why do the storm troopers have battle damage? In Star Wars - storm trooper gets hit storm trooper dies...
Re: Tuesday 19th May
You think the empire can afford to just throw out the armour with the dead storm trooper? This is a time of austerity, the armour is redistributed to the next grunt.Aneurin wrote:This video highlights one of the things I don't understand about Imperial Assault - why do the storm troopers have battle damage?
