I can upload my SC secondary tracker sheet; so you know which TC's have been used, and also, what the secondary ability on each TC does. Or I can just print a few out and bring them along, if anyone wants one?

No probs.
I'll stick it in dropbox along with a few other TI3 related bits and bobs. Can also print a few copies out if anyone wants?

Steve: Ghosts of Creuss or Embers of Muaat
Sam: Federation of Sol or Nekro Virus
Possibility of the Virus starting next door to War Suns again?

Re: Twilight Imperium 3 - Sunday 24th April 2016
Yeah don't know which Steve will take to be honest. The Creuss are exciting (with all their wormhole abilities) but pretty hard to play... especially compared to starting with War Suns. But then with the possibility of the virus he might opt for the Creuss anyway and make himself less of a target.

This is a bad day! I've been informed by the other half that I'm morally obliged to attend a wedding on the day of our TI3 game. She clearly operates on an entirely different moral framework to me but if I express my views on this I fear things would not go my way. Sorry guys - I'm sure you'll find a taker.

This is how it will go (Brief Overview):
Set up:
Aneurin will dish stuff out of the box. Sitting order is predetermined but there is still always someone who cannot get their head around clockwise or anticlockwise. My advice to that person is to just wait til everyone else is sat down. There's a snack table for a reason.
Also, there's a snack table.
You'll be given a player sheet with your chosen race on it. Make sure it's the right way up.
You'll have a little box of triangle tokens. Put some of them on the player sheet in certain places for startup.
You'll have another little box of ships. Get some of them out (It should tell you on your player sheet, assuming you've managed to get it onto the right side). Put them on your homeworld tile (Not placed yet).
You'll be given a homeworld tile.
You'll be given a little deck of cards.
Some of these cards are technology. Get the ones out your player sheet tells you to.
Sit down in your seat. Look at the two guys next to you, they're the ones who'll probably kill you (unless you're Nekro, then all you'll see is fear in their eyes).
Ask one of them for help about how to set up your player sheet (choose wisely). They'll turn it the right way up for you and tell you you've got too many tokens out and they're the wrong way round. This will make them feel some sort of brotherly protective feelings for you, and see you as less of a threat. This will hopefully put them off their game.
Placing Galaxy:
Everyone takes turns in clockwise order putting down a tile, when it reaches the last person the order changes.
There are some rules like not being able to play empty space tiles if you placed one last time and not being able to put 2 reds next to each other ifyou have a choice.
Reds cause "ooooh" when someone puts them down, usually to screw someone else.
Jamie will have a plan. It will be ruined by the tiles in his hand.
Everyone will try and screw Aneurin.
Aneurin just wants to see the galaxy burn.
First Round:
By far the longest round of the game. Everyone has so many tokens and wants to set up so much stuff.
Lots of secondary actions get done, dragging this round out a bit.
Everyone is paying really close attention, not wanting to cripple themselves for the rest of the game, so they take great care and consequently, great time over every decision.
Lots of questions get asked. This eats up a lot of time.
The First round will seem to take forever, as time goes on (and on) Aneurin will start giving people really fed up looks more and more frequently. His answers to questions will become shorter, hand gestures more exasperated and his stares longer. I believe these correlate.
The first round takes hours. Have I mentioned that?
Jamie will take a picture.
Second Round:
Hardly anybody does anything, unless they messed up their first round.
Snacks.
Jamie will take a picture.
Third Round:
A little longer than the second.
Someone will screw Jamie over.
Someone might look as if they're out of the game after a fight.
Negotiations for things will start taking the most time in the game, not the actual moves.
You will hear the words "Oh I missed when we did that, I wanted to do the secondary", to which Aneurin will reply "Well, I looked straight at you and asked you if you wanted to do it, you said no". Both statements are correct. This will happen more than once. It is a peculiar phenomenon.
Jamie will forget to take a picture.
Fourth round:
Someone is in the lead (Don't ask me how).
Halfway through Jamie will remember he forgot to take a picture of the previous round and take one.
People ignore the person they think is crippled.
Stuff happens. Wars basically start to get quite big.
Fifth Round:
Much the same as the fourth round, except with more screwing people over and even more threats of screwing people over.
Sixth round:
The person who everyone though was crippled is on the verge of victory.
Someone else wins.
End of Game:
People rehash the last round "Well, if you'd done that you could've stopped him", "Well, if YOU had done THAT I wouldn't have needed to do that, and he wouldn't have won", "IF you BOTH had done THOSE THINGS I would've won anyway", "I'm not sorry Jamie", "Sorry Paul" etc etc
Pizza.

Also, I can heartily recommend this company to facilitate any transactions you may wish to conduct with John.
Looking forward to it; is it on Sunday? What time are we starting, around 10:30?

Yeah, don't think I'll bother with the photos this time. I am going to explore the wonderful world of time-lapse video though, already have a smart phone app for it, just need a little practice with it. Will be cool to have some time-lapse video of Ti3 and Eclipse type games, we can put them on our YouTube channel, if we had one!
Re: Twilight Imperium 3 - Sunday 24th April 2016
Perhaps next time we need to persuade someone to come and film the game (along with cut-away interviews) much like the SU&SD play-through... :-)Jamie wrote:JohnH wrote:Jamie will take a picture.

I'd volunteer to do that but I'm busy that day. Maybe for the next one?

Yeah, that sounds like a great idea Paul.
I have very rudimentary recording equipment, but I'm sure someone else could get better results (with the right equipment) than a time-lapse app running on my mobile phone! I really like the idea though; maybe show the game speeded up and viewed from above, and with interjections of player commentary here and there...
Re: Twilight Imperium 3 - Sunday 24th April 2016
Yes! If you're up for this, Rik, then let's do it for the next one...RikTheChief wrote:I'd volunteer to do that but I'm busy that day. Maybe for the next one?PaulG wrote:

Yes, on Sunday, and 10.30 start sounds good to me. But it's Aneurin who usually has to pick a bunch of people up on the way so I'll defer to him...Jamie wrote:Looking forward to it; is it on Sunday? What time are we starting, around 10:30?

This would be amazing.
Karl: "I have no real clue what I'm doing"
Aneurin: "Well, Karl really threatened my homeworld with that move there, so I had to crush him."
Karl: *Shrugs*

Re: Twilight Imperium 3 - Sunday 24th April 2016
John - that made me laugh... Although you did forget to mention...
that every round their will be a major discussion about a law which will change the rules of the game. After what perhaps feels like hours of discussion the same decision will be reached - vote in a way which can screw over Aneurin the most (even though technically he isn't winning - he will end up 2nd or 3rd anyway so this a good plan).
also that I'm very good a renegotiating the terms of any alliance I may strike up.
See you at 10.30am on Sunday. I'm picking Karl up at 10am. From Hillsbrough. Anyone else need a lift? Paul will you sort out the piles of galaxy tiles...
