How should we speed up Twilight Imperium
Speeding up the Twilight... 1/10/11
Ok so we are set for our quarterly TI3 game on 1st October 2011. Clive suggested we speed up the game with Simulated early turns. I have always favored the slower exploration start (to get people back into the rules gently)but speeding up the entire game by allowing space docks to be built during the tactical action in which the planet was captured.
Anyway... poll is here. 1 vote each.

Also if we speed up the time it takes to build space docks, the Saar should be able to build at space docks they've just moved as normally you get:
Other players
Round 1: Activate -> capture
Round 2: Activate -> build space dock
Round 3: Activate -> build ships
While the Saar
Round 1: Activate -> capture and move in space dock
Round 2: Activate -> build ships
If you don't remove the 'no building at moved space docks' rule then the game speed-up is just a nurf to one of their abilities.

Re: Speeding up the Twilight... 1/10/11
Thats a given...
The Saar are kind of nerfed anyway with the Flagship rule that a flagship can only be built at a home system. The Saar are pretty much built for abandoning their home system. Beens lots of moaning about this on the forum but the offical FAQ states that even the Saar must control their Home system to build a flagship!
In the last game we also played that to control a system (with planets) you must occupy all the planets in the hex and have no enemy ships in space; (empty space) you must have at least 1 ship there... i.e. there is no contention for a hex!

How does voting work ? I vote yes to simulated early turns.

Speed
Mike and I found that the Empires optional rule vastly increased the game speed but we only did it 2 player!
