Tuesday 16th June
Going to bring Risk down; anybody for Paranoia Risk? This one is Sam's suggestion, and sounds pretty good. Check it out here: http://teriyaki.hubpages.com/hub/Paranoia-Risk-The-Best-Risk-Variant-Ever
Paranoia Risk rules...
Do you...
1: Attack the player you need killed to win the game?
2: Defend against the player who is trying to kill you?
So, we have six slots max; but guess it would play okay with 4 or 5 too.
1. Jamie
2. Sam

Also want to play a LOT more Avalon!
Paranoia Risk rules...
1) Remove all goal cards except those directing you to destroy all armies of a certain color. Keep only the colors of armies present in the game.
2) Each player randomly takes one card as his goal. If a player gets the card with his/hers own color it is considered a misdraw. (Of course you have to show everybody that you've been dealt your own color). This is repeated until everybody gets a card of some other player's color.
3) The game proceeds as usual from this point. However...
4) The moment a player's last army is defeated, the player who has the card with the destroyed player's color automatically wins! It is very important to note that it doesn't matter who dealt the death blow. Even if red player killed off the blue one, the yellow player holding the blue card is still the winner.
And that's pretty much it, believe it or not.

Re: Tuesday 16th June
Yeah, put me down for Paranoia Risk, Jamie.
The other hook of the Paranoia varient is that you don't even know who is trying to kill you, and you can't allow anyone but the player on your card to die, or you lose. So it's not just defending against the player trying to kill you, it might be defending him from other players! You might want to bluff regarding who you are gunning for, so the other players don't defend your target, or you might be able to draw out your target or manouvre advantageously if you know who his target is -- but all the while, you have no idea who is going to mow you down given half the chance! It sounds intense. The author of the article linked above is confident it's a shorter game, or at least less likely to drag on, than regular Risk, and I think we'll be finished around 10 or earlier.
I'm looking forward to playing Risk again. It's still the area control grandaddy, and I expect this varient will make it feel like a more modern game (more streamlined, balanced, no player elimination etc), so we will see if it can compare to the big strategy games of today. Be nice to get 6 players for this for the full experience!

Would love to have a crack at Imperial Assault at some point...
However, for Tuesday - is there any interest in a game ofFirefly (with all the trimmings)? Failing that Black Fleet or Formula D?

Absolutely, can imagine 6 player Paranoia Risk will be complete blast!
Re: Tuesday 16th June
The week after we should play one of the later area control games to compare. Smallworld, Kemet, Nexus Ops, Chaos In The Old World, something like that. Area control month?

Re: Tuesday 16th June
I've got Small World. I wouldn't mind giving Kemet a go sometime, if anyone has it?
Going to get Risk 2210 AD sometime soon too. Love them type of games.

I'm very interested in trying Black Fleet if that option happens!
Also I have BANG! The Walking Dead version card game - plays up to 8 - if anyone fancies giving that a go!?
Re: Tuesday 16th June
You might have to promise not to take too long on your turn though, Jamie -- I'll be bringing an egg timer and a klaxxon

Commander Argus reporting for his final mission. Call on all Wookies to beat the crap out of Imperial forces. I mean really beat them. Hard.
I'd like to play Bang: TWD too!

It has very simple rules. I'll reserve a seat for you, that okay?

Rip their arms off, isn't that what Wookies do?
I'd add insult to injury and then beat them with the soggy end, but that's just me

Ho ho ho. Now how many AT-STs does it take to squash 4 insignificant rebels?
Re: Tuesday 16th June
We need some rousing war music to play during Paranoia Risk. I wonder if Danny will let us play Rise of the Valkyries on repeat for 160 minutes or so.
