Ooooh, hopefully my copy will be here soon too! Looking forward to playing that.Aneurin wrote:Mare Nostrum arrived this morning. Made me look at the list of games I'm expecting. I need a bigger house... wait...
Re: Kickstarter is killing me...
I've backed a game called Mint Works. It was the runner up in the BGG competition last year to create a game that would fit inside a mint tin. It's a light worker placement game. Looks decent and for $12 including postage it's worth a punt I think.

I've gone for Mint Works too - I've been getting quite taken in by the "always having an emergency game in your pocket" thing - backed this one too a while back: Pack O Game Set 2
And yeah, for $12 delivered it'll be worth it just to see how well they've pulled off the design.

That Pack O Game set looks interesting, have they arrived yet? If so, what are they like to play?

No, they haven't turned up yet - expected in December - I'll be happy to bring them down one Tuesday once they're here if you fancy a look.

It's extremely rare to catch me there on a Tuesday these days. However I do manage to get to the odd 1st Sunday session if you're ever at one.

I'm backing this cheap one, anyone else interested? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/423304770/stellar-armada-1-board-game/description
Looks like the next stretch goal is pretty interesting from his updates. Need to reach $12.5k though

I saw this but at the time he wasn't shipping physical copies outside of the US so I discounted it. Has he changed his mind?

Standard and 4 Player Deluxe, actually.
For the Standard Game, select "The Game + Print and Play". Print and Play is thrown in to help cover the fact that global shipping would be $2. So you get a little more for your money.
The 4 Player Deluxe can be shipped to UK, EU, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand in addition to the United States.
(Sorry, traced the link back from referrals and thought I'd answer the question! ...

Yaaaayyy! I'm glad that was helpful. I'm pretty proud of Stellar Armada and I think you'll really enjoy it.

Hi Jerason! Thanks for coming and answering our questions. I've also backed the deluxe edition.
Good luck with the rest of the campaign!

I've gone 4 player deluxe as well. We're gonna have quite a few copies floating about.
Re: Kickstarter is killing me...
8 player rules anyone?
I might split my copy in half and give it to my brother or Dangerous Dave

One for Jamie. Looks pretty good either way to be fair.

This arrived the other day - I'll stick it my pocket for tonight if anyone wants to check it out - it plays up to 4, and only takes about 15 mins, so it should be possible to squeeze it in somewhere.
It is indeed tiny, and certainly well on the lighter end of worker placement. Only tried out the solo mode so far - not bad, if more of a puzzle than a game - it'd be good to see how it stands up with more people.

Re: Kickstarter is killing me...
I have mine also
Played with Arun's copy with him and Sam on Sunday, really enjoyed it. Good balance of building your own scoring engine while giving others enough to do to stop you. I really how the whole game is themed, and how its presented. They could have cut out the corners of the rule book and reference card, edges are going to get beat up quickly.. Arun, lemme know how cutting the edges goes?
On the kick-starter side, Gloomhaven turned up.. Its a monstrously sized box (~10kg!), very well packed in and the quality of all the pieces and tiles and models are great. However the box itself is trash, the only thing stopping the flimsy cardboard from unfolding is the stuck on artwork, and thats already split in one corner on the lid and in two corners of the base box.. I expect its going to fall apart after a couple of openings..
My current list of waiting to get ks are:
Sub Terra, Tao Long, Dark is the Night, Stellar Armada, Sol: Last Days of a Star, Starving Artists, This War of Mine, Endure the Stars, Folklore: The Affliction
I have also just backed SUPERHOT The Card Game, waiting for that to finish.

Re: Kickstarter is killing me...
You just reminded me to do it. The reference card is actually longer than the cards and rule book so it's still not great until I fully trim it which I may do at work. The book is fine now. quite easy to just curve the edges off. Definitely recommend you do it.AntW wrote:I have mine also

As far as the game goes, I really enjoy it as a micro game, and it really is that. I haven't played it with 4 yet and I think that it will make it a lot tighter. I have played with 1, 2 and 3 and feel that if you are able to get a production building on turn 1 you will probably win which often goes down to going first.

Re: Kickstarter is killing me...
My copy of Mint Works turned up last weekend too.
I've only played it with my wife but my initial thoughts are similar to you guys. It's a decent little game but I do think that if you can manage to get hold of one of the overpowered buildings it's pretty much an automatic win. The Assembler being a prime example. Would be interested to see how it plays with more than 2 players and will give the solo mode a go when I get chance. I agree with others in that the solo mode seems to be more of a puzzle than a game.

It's amazing what Brexit (and the resultant collapse of £ vs $) did for my kickstarter habit. I'm now only waiting for 3 games: Anachrony, Yokohama and Sub-terra.

Re: Kickstarter is killing me...
I have Tiny Epic Quest and This War of Mine outstanding.
Sannah is currently being tempted by Shakespear Munchkin while I'm resisting the urge to back the Champions of Midgard expansions...

Re: Kickstarter is killing me...
Yeah. Even I only have a pipeline of 15 Kickstartered games right now (and 9 of those are all one Kickstarter)!
