On a serious note, your need a business plan including the various audiences you can appeal to. I'd strongly advise you appeal to the widest possible set of audiences, especially the larger ones. I expect you've visited other games cafes/bars to see how they achieve this. I just mention this because your name needs to be designed to appeal to the appropriate audiences.

D12 strikes me as something that might work as a modern enigmatic name to the average punter with inside knowledge for geeks.

Bit late to the party, but I'd love this, I wouldn't mind a cover charge for free game rental or a monthly membership, would love to be able to bring my kids along to play games at weekends. Snakes and Lattes in Canada have a channel dedicated to what to do if you want to make a cafe, worth having a look at their stuff.
I'd also like a place to playtest games, a playtest night perhaps and a selfish request is to provide gluten free vegetarian food if possible too Razz

Reiner's sounds like a good name for a cafe, though it's a bit cheesy when you know the reference. Anything with "ludi" in makes me want to vomit. Chits and Giggles is an inspired pun. I think I agree with Sam's post (ugh, my stomach turned when I typed that).

Then again, a lot of cafes have dumb names and it's a little endearing. It makes me think it might be run by friendly idiots, rather than well groomed posers. "Amici & Bici"? Bleh. I'd still have a coffee there, though. It looks welcoming.

Some really good ideas and names. All will be considered. And D12 was originally going to be D8, until the Mrs pointed out it would be mistaken as Date Cafe! Oops.
See you all tonight anyway

I'm thinking D12 isn't great. The issue being, would people recognise it as being a board gaming cafe? I'm not sure. Mind you, I guess that's what market research is for. Also, as well as being recognisable to gamers, I guess you want something that's meaningful for non gamers too.

Snakes and Lattes

FYI the Dice Cup in nottingham is vegan. I thought it was awful and not a shade on Ludorati, also in Nottingham (who might well have something meeting your culinary needs). But if you don't mind soy milk, you might well have more favourable thoughts than me.

The Six-Sided Diet
Daftness rating: Medium,  Lawsuit risk: None
"Diet" is used here is in its broader sense (ie, the food one consumes, collectively).  But its more common, intuitive connotation – defined as a particular selection of foods eaten with the specific intent to lose weight or improve health – might not suit your menu or might not give off the vibe you’re after.

Burger and Chits
Daftness rating: Low,  Lawsuit risk: None
Needless to say, if you’re not serving burgers, this doesn’t make any sense.  Fish and Chits is probably better, but I think there would be an even more acute implication that fish would be the primary focus of your menu, which I doubt is your plan.

Pawn, Salad, Sandwich
Daftness rating: Medium,  Lawsuit risk: None
This is a quirky one, but I like it.  Its viability is again dependent on your menu.  If you’re not serving salad or sandwiches, it falls flat.

Hunger/Games
Daftness rating: Low,  Lawsuit risk: High
This is my favourite.  It immediately and distinctly conveys the 2 key aspects of your business: food and games.  The / could be replaced with + or x (in the vein of Fear x Loathing on West Street), however you see fit.
I’m not sure how much crossover there is between fans of Suzanne Collins’ young adult novels (and their film adaptations) with board gamers, but the fact is, even if you’re not overly familiar with the books, you’ve almost certainly heard of them.  And it just rolls off the tongue.
It might not work from a legal point of view.  Cease and Desist brand infringement litigation usually only rears its head if you’re treading on the toes of another brand in the same industry, and arguably this isn’t the case here, because the brand is more focussed in the book and film industries.  But I’m afraid there are, in fact, published board games which use the Hunger Games license, so you might get Scholastic’s and Lionsgate’s legal teams harassing you if the café becomes particularly successful.

Bread Roll for the Galaxy
Daftness rating: Medium,  Lawsuit risk: High
I like the image this conjures of a humble café determined to provide sustenance to the whole of the galaxy.  If this version seems too litigiously risky, there are any number of other possibilities, eg Bread Roll of the Dice, Bread Roll and Move, etc.

Flavour Quest
Daftness rating: Low,  Lawsuit risk: Low
I like this one because it is simple, efficiently descriptive, and memorable.  It has a touch of geekiness to it, but is generic enough not to immediately deter a wider demographic.

Café Legacy
Daftness rating: Low,  Lawsuit risk: None
This one is definitely zeitgeist-y, what with the current buzz about legacy games.  Like “Flavour Quest”, it is tidy, memorable, and unlikely to put off not-as-geeky gamers.  That said, the legacy game reference might be too narrow, and lost on all but a specific subset of hobbyists.  I still think it sounds cool, though.

Variable Flavour Powers
Daftness rating: High,  Lawsuit risk: None
Probably too obscure/geeky and not quite punny enough.  It’s fun, but I suspect a lot of potential patrons would just see it and think, “Er…what?”
