By and large though I thought it was a fantastic film that I really enjoyed.
Ooh what was different in the book? And what happened for no reason? Or do I need to read the book?
That's veering deep into spoiler territory

But not 4?

I'll probably do a run through the Machete order in the run up to Ep VII

We saw 4 already. We are doing the order of release order. I think 1 will involve lots of wine.

That's the beauty of the Machete order - no EpI
(For reference, the order is IV, V, II, III, VI - explained properly here

Re: The Movie Thread
No spoilers anyone! Some of us haven't seen it yet! Also, can people just only say it's awesome?
Also, best place to see it? I was looking at Curzon; nice seats, but small screen; or Centertainment, awesome screen but possibly full of screaming kids...

We could play Mafia/Werewolf after the film (or during, if it's not up to much)..
Re: The Movie Thread
It was certainly impressive on the IMAX laser 3D thing at Cineworld. I can recommend that - unless your eyes cant do 3D. Then its probably a waste.
I enjoyed it overall - I still have issues with the use of CGI... thought 2 of the characters looked too artificial (still - even 16 years on from TPM) and some scenes were just not needed... editing was brutal in parts... poetic in others. But compared to I-III this one is Shakespeare. Sets up VIII-IX well. A good space romp.
I'll be seeing it again for sure.

Re: The Movie Thread
Bit excited now. Got my ticket to see it at Cineworld on Boxing day, in IMAX 3D. Managed to get a center seat too, but a bit near to the screen, but maybe that's not a bad thing; everything will just look super big and awesome!

Yeah, that was a concern; however, not that many seats left now...
I'm in screen 7 (the big one), and 4 rows back. So, it's the front set of seats, of which I think there are 5 rows, and I'm in the row next to the back of those. Good news is, I'm exactly central to the screen.
If it's a crap seat; that'll be a good excuse to go see it again! So, I can't lose really!

Re: The Movie Thread
I've seen the trailer for The Revenant, which has spectacular cinematography, a few times at the cinema. The first times on a sensibly sized screen, where it seemed the best looking trailer I had seen in a long while (with the possible exception of Star Wars), and the last time on the pretty huge screen 8 and where we were close enough to the screen that you can't take in the whole image in one eyefull, and The Revenant looked far less striking. The different was shocking! It's like the composition of the image can't have it's full effect when you can't see the whole thing. It just makes me think that the size of the screen isn't all that important. If you have to sit far back enough that you can take in the whole image you might as well have sat closer in a small screen. There is some spectacle initially when you sit down in front of a massive screen but I quickly get over that and forget about it once the lights are off and I'm focused on the movie itself.

Re: The Movie Thread
Weighing up whether to stick with my unlimited card. Sure, there's still a lot of cool stuff coming out next year but maybe I'd be better off spending £16.90/m on something new and exciting.
Stuff I already know I want to see:
The Hateful Eight
Creed
The Revenant
Hail, Caesar!
Anomalisa
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Captain America: Civil War
X-Men: Apocalypse
Warcraft
Star Trek Beyond
La La Land
The BFG
Bourne 5
Suicide Squad
Gambit
Doctor Strange
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Story of Your Life
Anything else?

Re: The Movie Thread
How many did you see this year? I should probably work out if it's worth me keeping mine
Re: The Movie Thread
Just counted. Saw 19 films at cineWorld this year. I also bought one ticket, walked in and realised we were late so we left.
That means, at the moment, each film I saved about 36p. If I'd been to see more 3D movies, I'd have saved more because I get those free too.
Basically, I broke even.
Maybe I'll try n catch Star Wars again

Re: The Movie Thread
Only 45
Cineworld emailed me a few weeks ago to tell me I had saved £127.85, which somehow doesn't seem much, but I've honestly had a blast with it this year: I probably never would have bothered with films like Selma, Still Alive, It Follows, Sicario or Bridge of Spies without it, so saving over £100 to see those amazing movies is a pretty good deal, and of course seeing everything at the cinema is a way better experience than sitting down to watch them at home (at least at my house!).
So yeah, thinking about it and looking at that list of 2016 films, I'll probably stick with mine, though I reckon I'll get a lot less use of of it next year.
Want to weigh in, Dave?

Re: The Movie Thread
Good effort! A lot of this year I've been really busy so would probably have got to see more in a normal year.
