I put my voucher towards getting Space Alert, which I still haven't got around to playing. If anyone wants to spend 10 minutes being shouted at by a computer and then exploding, let me know and I'll bring it along.
I had a few family games of Hanabi last Christmas and it went down well. I introduced it to my siblings as being a game where the theme is a pretty firework display but what it's really all about is humiliatingly public failure. I think it's one of those games which is fun when sober but plays a lot better when you're just the right level of drunk, rather like Mascarade.

Oops... send my apologies to Kirsten! Maybe if I wave my hand in front of your face and say in a soft voice "This isn't the post you read" that would help?
Re: Tuesday 24th March
Nope! I'm super excited, one man Lord of the Rings is incredible and I've been wanting to see this for years.

Bring a camera - Nat and I went about 8 years ago and there were a load of folk outside the theatre, before the show, dressed up in the proper outfits - Stormtroppers, C3PO, Boba Fett... it was cool...
Not seen his LOTR one yet - but he did a snippet of Golum during the star wars show... he is a pretty talented guy.

The facehugger and chestburster rule in Legendary is the coolest damn rule I have seen in a deckbuilding game. Perfectly thematic and also perfectly worked into the deckbuilding mechanics... at least, in theory. Dave, are we playing a basic game or one with advanced rules, and playing though movie set-ups, or with random objectives?

Thats the bit that appears to be quite different to normal Legendary, I see the inevitable predator expansion is due for encounters later this year too

Yes and no It's a very cool mechanic but it can really ruin the game fast too - you don't have much time to kill a facehugger and if you get impregnated it's damn near impossible to avoid.
In terms of atmosphere and theme however it's brilliant
I want to play the Aliens scenario tomorrow. I've only played maybe three times so far and each one has been on Alien, so I fancy changing it up a bit, plus the core design of the game is based more around Aliens than any of the other three films...
As for advanced rules... I'm not sure - we played with the Alien player last time (as I got Chestburstered very early on) and it's definitely an "expert" game mode to play - When I got killed the human players were pretty much on top of the game but that didn't last long, the Alien Player deck is just an armful of griefing cards. I was able to kill off other players, break things that had to be fixed and double up the end-game bad guy. It's *too* much I think, unless everyone really knows what they're doing I think they'd get overwhelmed - I'd never even looked at the cards before trying to play as the Alien and was able to throw the entire game under the bus in only as few rounds.
I've never tried any of the other advanced rules - anything in particular caught your eye?
Re: Tuesday 24th March
I think you can have player aliens and hidden agendas, both which sound cool (though I can understand why you'd want to avoid a game with traitors given your as yet scientifically unexplained magnetic pull on traitor cards), but I do agree we should play a basic game following one of the movies. And Aliens is the best movie.
I wonder how the Predator game will play.

Man don't even joke about it - I've managed to draw both traitor cards in BSG at the first draw as well before now. Although I must admit that was a very fun game...

I don't know, but ask me a month or so after it's out - it's very definitely on the list
Re: Tuesday 24th March
I've not read the rules yet (job for tonight) but this all sounds very exciting!

Re: Tuesday 24th March
I preferred Lord of the Rings though it was still great. All the Star Wars jokes have kinda been done. Especially now I regularly hang out with star wars fans, all the silly things have been discussed to death.

Yeah his voice acting was spot on in some cases though - Jabba was great...

I'd be interested in either of these if there's time after I finish castles of mad king ludwig. I know Galaxy Trucker, would be a newbie at lords of vegas.

Re: Tuesday 24th March
Wow, it was a busy one tonight! Great to see so many new faces (and the old ones too of course...)
Re: Tuesday 24th March
Yeah, super busy tonight!
Awesome game of Avalon, adding in Oberon was fun, we should definitely try that again. Still keen to try some of the Resistance KS stuff, esp. Rogues and Reversers.
Sorry I ducked out of Sabateur by the way.
