Thursday 24th March - AVALON THURSDAYS!

Hey Guys,

A few of us are hoping to set up a splinter group on Thursdays - meeting to mainly play RESISTANCE / AVALON with a sprinkling of other hidden role games or whatever we fancy mixed in. We have a venue in the vicinity of the uni arms - at a members flat. So who's in? AVALON LOVERS UNITE!!

There appears to have been a serious and disturbing confusion.

I will be starting my own Avalon evening, also on a Thursday, in direct competition to Jamies. I will be sending spies to Jamies gathering in order to gain information and sabotage their game night. Lets hope they don't get caught, eh?!

Any chance there is room for me? I'm way out of practice but be good to play again

Hey Jamie - I thought it was a little late notice to set it up 4 tonight (and i'm not 100% if I could make it myself)

not sure how to contact Nick either as I don't have his mob number.... I guess he might pop up in this thread

Yeah, a bit late notice.

I'm happy to leave it till next week if that suits everyone?

I am interested in this, especially as I will be unable to make it to Tuesday at the Uni Arms this next week. However, I have almost no experience with hidden role games and have never played Resistance or Avalon. If it would be better for me to play the game at another time, like at a regular SBGC meeting, instead of what might be a pretty intense Avalon session, played with a number of veterans of the game, in which case a total newb like myself might spoil the game, please say so.

If however having a player who is new to the game wouldn't at all hinder other players' enjoyment, I'm in.

FWIW I don't see any real problem with a newbie to the genre - the core rules of games like "The Resistance" are very easy to pick up, everything else is emergent behaviour from the game itself.

The Tabletop episode that dealt with The Resistance is worth checking out to get a feel for the rules. I would normally recommend the SU&SD one as well but they make a major rules cockup in their vid...

Cool - yeah there's no problem with new players and the rules are not complicated. Learning to tell lies convincingly and coherently is the tricky part really

Hi all, can I get that last spot?

We have a venue in the vicinity of the uni arms - at a members flat.

I can host if are 6 or 7, but more than that and I run out of armchair space. Maybe it would be best to meet in the uni arms for this first time - say 7.30pm?

Uni Arms for 7:30 sounds like a good idea Nick.

There was quite a bit of interest expressed tonight (Tuesday) for this, so it's possible we'll have more than 7 (so no need to worry about numbers I guess, if we're in the Uni Arms).

I like the use of 'Avaloner'.

I'll definitely be there, although maybe not for the first game

Was thinking of bringing One Night Ultimate $Beastie along in case anyone fancied it to take a break or change things up a bit. Not a great idea if we're just playing in the bar!

Edit: I should have Deception by then though so will bring that instead

There's probably about a 20% chance I will come along.

If I do come, my contribution to the hidden-role buffet will be Mafia de Cuba.

I'm still feeling a bit off-colour, and I'd put my likelihood of being there at about 75%. Will it be upstairs or downstairs at the Uni Arms?

If I am able to make it, I'll be there around 6 and I guess I'll go straight upstairs to see if the usual Tuesday room is empty. I'll bring a couple smaller games to play if anyone else expects to be there that early. Thanks.

I imagine upstairs in the Uni Arms will suit us better Andy. I'll be there from 7:30 (or maybe a little before), I think Nick said 7:30 too. Feel free to turn up before then, just be aware, not sure who else will be around if you get there at 6 Andy.

Looking forwards to it. Got to play The Resistance last night, with The Plot Thickens cards, makes a nice change from the normal Avalon.
