WellChild (charity number 289600) Charity event - 8/11/2015
I've been approached by Rob Elstone (a son of one of the members of the old Sheffield & Rotherham Wargames Club - where this club found its origin). In short he is organising a charity board game event and wants volunteers to help run board games on the various tables. If you are interested in helping out (read below and) let me know here if you are game.
The event is going to be held at The Old Rectory in Handsworth on 8th November 2015.
It is being organised to raise money for the Charity WellChild (charity number 289600). WellChild provide support through nurses to families with seriously sick children. They also try to provide a means for a better quality of living for seriously sick children by renovating houses and gardens making them more accommodating for the Child's needs.
Jim at Patriot Games who is going to run a stall at the event and sell tickets on the Patriot Games website. Jim is also arranging for Esdevium Games to run a demo at the event too. Rob would like to run participation games, competitions, raffles and tombolas alongside this and wants our help with some participation games throughout the day. The venue has space for around 20 gaming tables (6foot x 2foot). Patriot/Esdevium will take up 3... we can have the rest if we can man them and bring some games to play with various people and generally just have fun (with a similar atmosphere to the Cast are Dice convention). Rob doesn't have a library organised so we would be playing our own games on our own tables - but then you will be there in an official T-shirt to look after your own stuff.
I have said I will help out and bring some dexterity games... Pitchcar/Rampage etc. Anyone else fancy helping out?
I need to let Rob know 'definite' numbers this week so he can sort out a table plan... I guess if you are a possible you could just be a floater if you turn up? Direct people to the types of game they might be interested in - or join at tables where people are lacking?
Definite list - Aneurin, Lizzy, Paul C, Tom C, Kes, Karl B, Scott, John (Rabit), Jamie (from 1pm)
Possible - DaveB, Andy (Wired), Paul G

I'm not sure I'll be able to get a permission slip signed, but if I can I'll be up for helping out.

And definite answer is in - I can't commit. So put me down as a possible and if events allow, I'll come help direct traffic/relieve people for breaks/whatever
Forgot to say if any of my games are useful for it I'm happy to send them along (Black Fleet would be an obvious candidate for a demo in my mind)

If I'm around then I'd be happy to help, but not sure about availability that weekend yet. Sounds like there are plenty of volunteers anyway, though!
Re: WellChild (charity number 289600) Charity event - 8/11/2015
Rob wants to fill 20 tables so the more the merrier! I'll put you down as a possible Paul.
Thanks Scott.
Thanks Scott.

I'll help.
Gateway games? I have a few I can teach and play through the day. (Forbidden Desert, Scotland Yard, Tantrix, Fluxx, The Hobbit, King of Tokyo, Alhambra, and Eaten by Zombies)
Bigger games (Shadows over camelot, Asteroyds, Istanbul)
2 player fillers if there's not a lot of interest in my table (Jaipur, Lost Cities)
Happy to bring 2 or 3 of the above.

Hi guys,
I'm Rob, and I'm organising this event.
I really appreciate you all wanting to get involved with this.
There's 2 things I'm wanting to know.
The first and most urgent is what t-shirt sizes do you need.
Someone from Wellchild will be in Sheffield next Tuesday and they want to save the cost of postage and send the t-shirts when they come up.
I'm sorry for the short notice but if you could let me know asap I will be grateful.
The t-shirts are unisex and apparently very generous for women... (I was told to tell you that by the lady at Wellchild)
The second thing I would like to know is what games you are all bringing.
I'm creating a Facebook event and I'm going to Make Jim at patriot games aware so we can promote the event better.
Thank you so much
Rob

Small please.
As for games, are we going for more entry level stuff or a mix? I'd be happy to run some short games, Qwirkle, Fluxx, King of Tokyo, Sushi Go!, etc, etc if that works?
