Tuesday 17th May

Hi, I'm Richard, I'm a new face here and I'm relatively new to board gaming but as it happens one of the few modern ones I've played is Game of Thrones. If there's a seat available at that table I'd love to join.

Just got Memoir 44. Been wanting to learn this game for years. Two players. Anyone want to try out this classic with me? Otherwise I'll join in with anything.

If you're planning on playing Pegasus Bridge you'll probably want to play it twice, once as the Allies and once as the Axis each as its quite heavily weighted in favour of the Allies.

Struggling to find Fzzzt! I've had my entire games cupboard out. Means I either don't have it and didn't update the list when it was lent out - or it's inside the box of another game. Don't have time to search each box now so bring other games .

Jamie - we really want a full table for GoT. I'll bring other games in case that doesn't happen.

Yeah, we have 3 so far (see Richeh's post). I'm happy to give it a whirl at any player count, though I agree 6 would be best.

If GoT doesn't happen, how about Sphere of Influence or Archipelago? (both work well with 3+ players)

What alteratives did you have Karl?

GoT scales very badly with some players counts. The south is left completely empty to raid for the more southern players.

Carson city/Flick em Up is full now...

I would argue it doesn't work for any player count other than six - if you have one or two regions open it gives a huge advantage to the adjacent players and I think if you go below that the game will be boring since you can almost completely avoid bunfights over territory...

It's not like you could block off the unoccupied territory either as that would unfairly hinder the adjacent players too.

Its a difficult question, but on the other hand the game itself is *really* good and worth getting to the table if you can!

I think there was an expansion that added in a valid four player version of the game but I've never seen or played that.

Don't give in so easily Jamie - there are lots of members that don't use the forum. You will easily fill the game with people that just turn up.

The game can run a little long for an evening game for my tastes, but I'd certainly be interested.

I definitely want to try GoT sometime, but I felt it would probably go on a bit for a Tuesday.

I could give it a go tomorrow (or some other time). Failing that I am happy to play Archipelago again (more than Spheres I think). Unless there will be other suitable alternatives.

Okay, that's great Matt; so, looks like we now have 4 for GoT. Getting there...

Dave and Lizzy, even if we do manage to get a game of GoT going on Tuesday, we should arrange to play it again, sometime when there's more time.

Me! I've been wanting to play it for a while.

I'd also like to register my interest in 6-player GoT.

We have 4 signed up so far, we may get lucky and find another 2 players on the night. In either case though, I'll definitely be up for a game of GoT some other time (getting the impression people would be more open to playing it on a non-Tuesday session). Just incase (we don't get 6), I'll being some backup options, Archipelago and Spheres of Influence; and see what happens. Did you have anything particular in mind Karl, as a plan B, just incase we can't get 6 for GoT?

BGG lied to me! Carson city does play 6 players now. So one spot left - probably orange .

My update is that tomorrow I will be bringing games, buying games and playing games. Beyond that I'm not sure. I think I've now found someone to bring Steampunk Rally. Also Stellar Conflict, which I reviewed on here as a great quick little filler. And do want to play Web of Spies. And Agricola. And Race for the Galaxy. And perhaps some others...
