There is a tutorial, but it's seamlessly integrated as Chapter 1 of the campaign and the whole group can play it together.

Funny you guys mentioned Alien Swarm earlier. Someone (not Valve?) has just (yesterday!) released an update for it on Steam called Reactive Drop. Eight-player co-op!

So...Magicka

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this one - I like the core idea (with the spell combos and so on) and there are a lot of fun references and whatnot buried in the game but it did feel a bit chaotic for my tastes at times. I'm up for giving it another shot though sometime.

Hopefully without the startup problems we had this time too!

I fixed my audio problems now. My main issue was that I missed the tutorial so I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't even know how to self heal. I played the first couple levels on my own now and did a bit of reading online so I have a better of what's going on. It's really tough one player though.

Definitely up for giving it another go

What was going on with your ping on Friday? you were between 400 and 800 as far as I can tell and were mostly skipping around the screen...

Oh and I wouldn't worry about not knowing what you were doing - we went through it and I was still struggling

I'm on wifi with a bad connection. Was it always like that it did it improve at the end? Felt better later on

To be honest I didn't notice later on either way

Was playing Knight Squad last night, we had 4 player local multi-player (think it supports up to 8 players), and it was a blast! It's on Steam. I think it may have online multi-player too.

It was much better than last time! Well, new game, new people, someone who didn't know that you press "Online play" to play online (sorry!). Now we're all set up with working mics and with a Discord group it should be easier in the future. I think next time we arrange to play we all just hop on the Discord server and go from there.

I liked the game. Yeah, chaotic, but seems like it will be manageable if we get to grips with it. It throws a ton of crazy stuff at you but gives you a ton of crazy stuff to counter with. Reviving and healing a dead team-mate takes all of two seconds. And if it's raining so you can't use lightning to revive, you can set up a big ass shield that lets in no attacks so you can get your shit together.

It seems like a cool mix of picking the right strategy from a host of silly options, and tapping your inner touch-typist to actually pull it off. And it was pretty funny to blow each other up and not even realise how it had happened.

Yeah, I thought you were a lost cause after the second disconnect but after that you were fine.

Oh, and to the rest of the world: we ended up with two groups with three players each, so if anyone else is interested in Magicka you can grab a spot with me, Dave and Kes (the newbies) for next time we play it. We didn't get very far.

I can see from my friend activity that some of you are enjoying the Steam summer sale already. I just bought Sonic Racing Transformed, 'cause a) I want Mario Kart on my PC, and b) Sheffield pride — this game was made by Sumo Digital.

Let's get a big group together for a few races. Can play up to 10! £3.74 if you don't have it already. Monday evening?

I'll hopefully be around monday evening, so should be up for a bit of sonic racing!
